Four checks before you change a price.
Packaging, delivery, card or app fees and your own time all belong in the cost of a sale, not only the materials.
A 50% markup on cost gives only a 33% margin on the price. Decide which one you mean before you set targets.
A small price cut can wipe out most of the profit on each sale. See how many extra sales it needs before you announce it.
Supplier prices and rent change. Recheck your numbers when costs move, not only when sales drop.
Price calculator questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Markup is profit as a share of your cost; margin is profit as a share of the selling price. The calculator shows both, so you can compare them with what suppliers or competitors quote.
How should I include rent, wages and other monthly costs?
Enter your monthly fixed costs and roughly how many sales you make in a month. The calculator spreads those costs across each sale.
Why does a discount need so many extra sales?
Your costs stay the same when the price drops, so the discount comes straight out of your profit. The smaller your margin, the more extra sales you need just to stay level.
Does the calculator include tax?
No. Enter amounts before sales tax or VAT. If a marketplace, card company or delivery app takes a share of each sale, add it as fees so the price covers it.
With a plan, your products and prices sit on your own website and change from one message to ADM Assistant, so customers always see the current price.
