When Google verification is slow or fails
Why Google verification can stall, and the steps that usually help.
2 min read · UpdatedBefore your business shows fully on Google Search and Maps, Google needs to confirm that you really run it. Google alone decides how and when this happens. Neither we nor anyone outside Google can verify a profile for you, whatever they promise.
How Google may ask you to verify
Google chooses the method for each business. It can be a code by phone call or SMS, a code by email, a short video showing your location and signage, or a postcard with a code mailed to your address. Sometimes Google offers more than one option.
If it is taking a long time
- A postcard can take a couple of weeks to arrive. Do not ask for a new one too early, because each new request cancels the code on the previous card.
- Video and manual reviews can take several business days after you submit.
- Open Google → Profile to see the latest status we receive from Google.
If verification fails
- Check that your business name matches your signboard exactly, with no extra words added.
- Check that the address and map pin point to where you actually work.
- For video, record in daylight and show your signboard, the street and the inside of your workplace in one continuous clip.
- Fix any differences in Google → Profile, then try again with the method Google offers.
