Close your account and delete your data
What happens when you close your account, and the window you have to export first.
2 min read · UpdatedIf you no longer need ADigitalMotive, you can close your account yourself. Closing is different from cancelling a plan: cancelling stops future charges, while closing also starts the removal of your website and data.
Before you close
- Download an export from Settings → Export, so you keep your website files, designs and records.
- If you use your own web address, point it elsewhere or transfer it out first, so it keeps working.
- Tell your team members, because their access ends at the same time.
- Disconnect any sites you added to Website Care, or ask us to hand over their backups.
Steps
- Open Settings → Close account. Only the account owner can see this option.
- Read the summary of what will happen, and give a reason if you want to help us improve.
- Confirm with a fresh sign-in code.
What happens next
Your website goes offline and your free address stops working. Any active subscription is stopped from the next renewal date. For a limited period after closing, you can still sign in to download an export. The length of this window is set out in our billing policy.
When the window ends, we delete your website, designs, customer records, orders, invoices and conversations. Some information, such as our own invoices to you, must be kept longer by law, and is held only for that purpose.
If you change your mind while the window is still open, contact our team through the Help button and we will tell you what can be restored.
Ask your ADM Assistant in the app, or message our team. We reply in your language.
